The architect of this project made contact with Imperial after researching which ductwork installation team had completed the Apple store at Covent Garden, with the exposed, on-show systems. IDSL visited the project and advised what could be achieved against the hand-drawn sketches produced at the meeting.
During the meeting, it was noted that the project had to be designed, detailed and installed in three days to allow the project to go live with TV filming straight away. The ductwork system had to incorporate light boxes due to the position of the ductwork being in prime lighting zones for the cameras to gain the correct lux levels. IDSL designed and manufactured bespoke light boxes, along with the manufactured lighting system, and installed these onsite the very next day.
One particular stipulation was that the film crew needed to be able to change the angle of these lights to find the optimum level of lighting to suit the angle of filming. IDSL therefore designed the ductwork system to be rotated up and down where the lights were located.
