The Farringdon East OSD project consists of 5 CAT A floor, mezzanine plant area, roof and reception. The project is now complete.
The IDSL scope of works is to install all of the GSS ductwork and fire rated ductwork, along with the free-issue fan coil units, plenum boxes and grilles. Fire Protection Ltd was appointed by IDSL to supply, install, and subsequently insulate the fire rated ductwork.
There are 4 main air handling units serving the office floors situated on the roof, while two dedicated air handling units also serve the mezzanine and ground floor – which comprises a plant area and staff changing rooms, cycle store, refuse store, reception and showers. A dedicated fan serves the toilets situation on the CAT A floors. Each CAT A floor has fan coil unit installed, which are supplied fresh air from the roof AHUs. The extract air is drawn out of the ceiling void via the extract ductwork system. IDSL has installed fire dampers and motorised fire/smoke dampers as detailed, to provide compliancy to the building fire strategy.
Two DX systems have been installed by IDSL within the comms room on the mezzanine and within the dock office in the loading bay.
A dedicated extract system serves the loading bay situated at the rear of the building.
Whilst installing the ductwork on the roof, IDSL had to take care not to install services that were above the line of the roof screens.
