IFS-ES Service Enclosure System
Whether for residential, commercial or industrial buildings, when it comes to passive fire protection, our clients want a product that not only meets the necessary requirements, it exceeds them.
The IFS-ES Fire Resistant Service Enclosure System excels in its design, test results and performance, making it the perfect choice for any project installation.
Access to the IFS-ES data sheet can be found via below/above link. This data sheet is only valid at time of download.
Design
Designed as a factory-prefabricated, pre-insulated system, this system facilitates full factory production control procedures. Additionally, as a dry system, there is no need for site-applied sealants and mastics, though it should be noted that the tested fire-stopping arrangement still requires site-applied sealants.
We deliver this system to the required site with internal and external supports, allowing for easy installation of the relevant services to be protected.

Testing
Full-scale fire tests have been conducted with loads supported from both the lower and upper sections of the enclosure, providing multiple options for service protection during installation. Tested through a flexible substrate, our enclosure system can be installed in flexible or solid walls and allows for installation in either the top or bottom section.
This provides greater flexibility for service installers.
The IFS-ES Fire Resistant Service Enclosure System excelled in every test, exceeding test standards by an average of 50˚C below the T3 thermocouple requirement. This exceptional performance highlights the commitment of Imperial Fire Solutions to surpass minimum industry standards in the development of critical passive fire protection systems.
The system also uniquely achieved an IP5X Category 1 rating for dust protection, and IPX6 rating for water jets, and passed the Indoor Air Comfort Gold standard for VOC emissions.

Performance
Our IFS-ES service enclosure system protects services for over two hours, keeping temperatures from reaching 140˚C on average and 180˚C as a maximum, and also protects services from Fire Outside (Type A) and Fire Inside (Type B) in both vertical and horizontal orientations.
In addition, the service enclosure system is tested to BS EN 1366-5:2021 for integrity and insulation, as well as meeting BS 8519:2020 insulation requirements. This ensures the T3 thermocouples inside the enclosure, inside the furnace, stay below 180˚C plus ambient temperature.
IFS-ES Service Enclosure System
- Fire tested for outside, inside, vertical and horizontal applications
- Manufactured with galvanised sheet steel outer casing to resist hose stream or sprinkler impact (BS 8519:2020 compliant)
- Suitable for flexible and solid wall installations
- Able to be installed in the top or bottom section
- Suitable for installation around gas pipes, data cables, refrigerant gas pipes and MV & HV cables.
- Available in horizontal external size up to 1000mm x 500mm, or vertical external size up to 2000mm x 700mm**
** BS EN 1366-5:2021 section 13.3 states that the enclosure size is applicable to the tested width and height.

Ensuring Fire Resistant Power & Control Systems for Life Safety
The latest British Standard offers guidance on selecting and installing fire resistant power and control systems to maintain circuit integrity for life-safety and firefighting. Ideally, utility supply cables should enter LV/HV switchrooms directly. If that is not feasible, cable routes should be protected for 120 minutes using one of the following methods:

Fully enclosed by a passive fire protection system

Routed within a fire-rated shaft or void

Installed in a concrete trench with a concrete cover
