IFS-DS Fire Resistant Ductwork Systems

Imperial Fire Solutions (IFS), a division of Imperial Ductwork Services Limited (IDSL), have developed a high-performance fire-resistant ductwork system rigorously tested in accordance with fire test standards BS EN 1366-1, 8 & 9 and classified in accordance with BS EN 13501-3 for ventilation ducts and BS EN 13501-4 for smoke control ducts.

IFS-DS

This system is the culmination of around £3m investment by Imperial Ductwork Services Limited, seeking to create an in-house product that satisfies the current BS EN standards and regulations surrounding passive fire safety systems.

Carrying out rigorous testing of our products is a critical component of ensuring we meet industry standards of safety, quality and compliance. Since April 2023, IFS has undertaken 31 tests in conjunction with independent assessors Efectis and PAVUS, who together have over 100 years’ experience assessing the fire performance of products, systems and constructions.

Multi-compartment ducts provide the same level of performance but are tested to BS EN 1366-8, achieving EI 120 classification

  • Ventilation, Single compartment & multi-compartment Smoke control duct systems
  • Fire resistant ductwork tested to BS EN 1366-1, 8 & 9
  • Ventilation ducts classified to BS EN 13501-3
  • Smoke control ducts classified to BS EN 13501-4
  • Single compartment ducts tested to BS EN 1366-9:2008 passed the test at pressure level 3, achieving classification for 2 hours (E600 120)

Thanks to our state-of-the-art CGF machine, IFS is able to mass-produce fully framed ducting with zero chance of frame leakage in a matter of minutes, resulting in a safe and effective system which helps to limit the spread of fire during an outbreak. Using this automated ductwork fabrication machinery not only creates consistently high-quality products, but also saves considerable time during production, enabling us to effortlessly deliver projects on schedule.

Furthermore, our commitment to reaching Net Zero means that IFS will be manufacturing all fire resistant ductwork at our Dartford factory using XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel, which reduces CO2 emissions by 65% compared to traditional steelmaking.

By the end of 2025, we aim to procure over 1000 tonnes of lower embedded carbon (LEC) steel through our strategic partner ArcelorMittal, reflecting real life cycle savings of 1,694 tonnes of CO2e.

LEC steel fire resistant ductwork and service enclosures will be supplied to live and future projects across the UK, keeping sustainability at the heart of our core values.
